🦊Alpha Rush: A Surprise Airdrop Dropped This Week!
Let's rush into some alpha and degen opportunities in this letter.
The response to my previous newsletter was overwhelmingly positive, and it has motivated me to continue sharing my insights and analysis of the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency market. In just the past week, there have been numerous developments and alphas to cover, making it an exciting field to navigate. So, let’s go🤘
Alpha roundup.
Sesame Labs: This web3-based marketing platform recently raised $4.5 million in its seed round with participation from Wing Venture Capital, Patron, Samsung, DoubleJump, Forte, Moonfire, Twin Ventures, Balaji Srinivasan, Robin Chan, and Ryan Spoon. You can check it out here.
Addressable: The idea behind this project is kinda scary 😅. It’s a digital fingerprinting startup that claims to help web 3 marketers by mapping anonymous blockchain addresses to the user's social media accounts and then targeting these address holders on Twitter, by sending them personalized ads according to their on-chain activity. The thing is that they managed to raise almost $7.5 million in a seed funding round led by Viola Ventures, Fabric Ventures, Mensch Capital, and North Island Ventures. You can check the project here.
Blueberry Protocol: They recently launched the testnet version 2. I have already made a tutorial thread covering the testnet, although it’s not updated, the steps are mostly the same, you can check it here. According to their tokenomics, 55% of the total supply is allocated to the community, also valuable feedback on the testnet will be rewarded.
Optimism Airdrop Round 2: On Feb 10, Optimism surprised the network users by airdropping a total of 11,742,277 OP to 307,965 unique addresses. The snapshot was taken on 01-20-2023 at 0:00 UTC and mostly included users with participation in governance & Mainnet power users. You can read more about it here.
Optimism Airdrop Round 3: As you may or may not know, out of 19% of the token supply allocated for airdrops, optimism has only distributed 5.27% which includes rounds 1 and 2. Still, 13.73% of the tokens are remaining to be airdropped. So yup, we can expect it in the future. And the best thing you can do as of now is to increase your governance participation and activity on the network.
Frenemies by Sui: Frenemies is a game developed by Sui on their testnet v2 to test out the staking functionality, as of now everyone can participate in it. Prizes include 2,000 allowlist spots for the Sui Community Access Program. You can try it out here. I will soon be posting the tutorial thread on my Twitter account.
Ethereum Shapella: According to a blog on Ethereum’s website, the Shanghai+Capella (Shapella) mainnet upgrade is moving into its public testnet stage. With this upgrade, the ability to initiate withdrawals will be added. Exited validators will have access to complete withdrawals, while active validators with a balance exceeding 32 ETH will have the option of partial withdrawals. You can read the full blog here.
Bitcoin Ordinals: Ever heard this thing? Well, each Bitcoin is broken into 100,000,000 units called satoshis (or sats). The new Ordinals protocol allows people who operate Bitcoin nodes to inscribe each Sat with data, creating something called an Ordinal. That data inscribed on Bitcoin can include smart contracts, which in turn enables NFTs. In rough terms, Ordinals are NFTs you can mint directly onto the Bitcoin blockchain. But that’s not exactly right. That’s the short-hand understanding, I recommend reading this article to know more about it.

Optimism Agora: Optimism has launched a beta version of its governance platform. Using this platform, you can delegate, check out proposals, and eventually vote on them.
Scroll📜: This zkRollup-based layer 2 solution will be launching its next Alpha Testnet on Goerli soon. It will be rolled out with new multi-VM infrastructure, an improved load balancer, and many stability improvements.
Soulflake: An experimental social interactions tool developed by consensus, recently launched version 2 of their product. Using this platform, you can send a soulbound NFT greeting card and some MATIC to anyone you wish to. I already made a guide on it here.
zkSync: The future of ethereum will be mostly on layer 2s and even Vitalik agrees on that. The focus is being directed on EVM-compatible zkRollups. zkSync mainnet v2 is coming up within the next 6 months, the L2 state of zkSync will be divided into 2 sides: zkRollup with on-chain data availability and zkPorter with off-chain data availability. zkPorter is a solution developed by zkSync that promises a 20,000+ TPS and more security than optimistic rollups, just to be clear with a comparison here, Visa has a current TPS of 24,000+. You can read more about zkPorter here.
